Introducing the Humax IRHD-1000S Digital Satellite
beIN Sports Cards
Receiver with embedded (Irdeto) beIN Sport Smart Card (Version 6). Connects to your TV using HDMI connector (lead supplied) or Red, Yellow and White (RCA) connectors/lead. Produces exceptional 1080p picture quality and stereo sound. Supplied already configured for the Nilesat group of satellites.
beIN Sports launched on the 1st January
Sports fans switched on their Al Jazerra Sports TV systems on New Year's Day to find that there was a new logo in the top right hand corner of the screen and that there had been a considerable change in the channel line-up. 9 new High Definition channels with two of them dedicated to English language commentary.
Viewers satellite receivers needed re-configuring to receive the new channels
The changes had been extensively advertised so it wasn't a surprise to most viewers who knew that there was going to be a re-branding, but what most people didn't expect was the extensive changes to the channel line-up and the new signal frequencies. For most viewers, this meant that a satellite re-scan was required.
It's at times like this, that customers need our help and support
On the old system, Al Jazeera subscriptions were supplied on a smart card - the customer usually supplied and configured their own satellite receiver. Some customers however, were not familiar enough with the procedure to be able to do a satellite re-scan and our concern was for them because they were not receiving all the new channels. It took considerable effort, but with the support that we were able to supply through our contact forms, the instant chat facility on our web site and by telephone, the majority of our customers were soon back up and running. It is important to use 'only' the best quality LNB with your system
Having re-configured a number of systems and satellite receivers, I have got varying results. Except for channels HD 10 which I have only seen a couple of times (weaker transponder) and channel HD 9 which I haven't seen at all (weaker transponder), the rest of the channels were located on all systems suggesting that transponder signal strength is OK across all channels. Further investigation however, suggests that the transponder carrying the English commentary channels HD 11, HD 12 is delivering a weaker signal. To back up this theory, I received pixelation reports on Sunday 5th January in reasonably clear weather. These reports came from 90cm offset dishes with 'reasonable LNBs'. So, no less than a 90cm, finely tuned dish with a good quality LNB should be used to receive the channels from the weaker transponders - 10853 H and 12245 V. I visited a customer who was getting pixelation (weak signal) on channel HD 11 and found that with the LNB that he was using, he was receiving 70% signal strength and 55% signal quality on that frequency. I swapped out the LNB for one of our Quad Lnb's (the dish he is using is supplying 3 receivers) and the signal strength jumped to 90% and signal quality to 65% - result: no pixelation on HD 11 so, use a good quality LNB !

So, what has changed ?
Apart from the obvious - the branding, there are more High Definition channels (15 compared to 6 previously) and 29 channels in total (if you count the free to air channels in Arabic) and I think that the HD picture quality has improved considerably. Channels SD 11, HD 11, SD 12 and HD 12 are dedicated English commentary channels and this is where you will find the match punditry from Richard Keys, Andy Gray and others. The football line-up with a British interest remains the same for the moment - English Premier League, English Football League, the FA Cup, League Cup, the FA Community Shield, Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA European Championship, FIFA World Cup and many other leagues and competitions.

Well whilst I understand the issue, i won't be renewing when the card finishes..... I paid for the card for the then advertised package available. I will be looking for a different option for next season. The issue is we are not getting what we paid for we use our card legitimately and are being penalised. I purchased this card despite possibly being i need to spend on something more important.....so sorry BEIN i won't be returning finally I would point that I do not blame satellite Cyprus and was happy with your service etc.

Hi Paul,
Happy New Year.
Can you clarify please!
We are being asked to register our receivers by 31/1.
I bought a Nexstar box from you and a card for the full AJ sports package.
Will I still have access to EPL after 1/2!

I reply to these messages by email, but I am posting this information so that future readers needn't repeat the same question.

Only the new receivers (as seen above) can be registered with the 'newer' Al Jazeera cards.

Yes, from 1st February, 6HD, 7HD, 8HD, 9HD, 12HD, 13HD, 14HD and 15HD are going to be secured and will not be able to be viewed without the new 'registered' receiver and paired smart card.

The above channels are the free channels that were added to the channel line-up on the 1st January.

Premier League will still be able to be viewed on 11HD and others until 31st May.

The 6 Nations is being shown on 12HD, I have repeatedly checked the programme schedule to see if the games will be appearing on any other channels, but as of last time I checked, the schedule was only completed up until Friday night.

Whilst everyone wants to see the return of the 3pm kick offs as soon as possible, I just hope that they don't bring them back onto the secure channels. If they do, then the only way to see them will be to have the new receiver.

Everyone will now realise that we have been reprieved ! The free HD channels will now be available until the 28th February without the paired smart card and receiver.

I am not going to kid anyone, I had hoped that this would happen because not enough customers have got the paired smart card and receiver.

I wasn't looking forward to answering the telephone on the 1st February, because if the secure channels had been introduced on 31st January, there are a lot of users who would not be watching the 6 Nations Rugby.

This extension gives many more people the opportunity to get the new card/receiver configuration and those that don't, have no cause to complain come the 1st March - 2 months notice is time enough.

The only unfortunate thing here is that the TV Pirates are receiving the free HD channels for an extra month, but the clock is ticking and they will have lots of unhappy 'clients' when the switch does eventually get thrown !

Existing subscribers should have noticed the advertisements on the beIN Sports Channels informing viewers that beIN Sport HD 6, HD 7, HD 8, HD 9, HD 10, HD 11, HD 12, HD 13, HD 14 and HD 15 are going secure from March 1st. This means that these channels will not be able to be viewed without one of the official receivers and a paired smart card.

I can also inform everyone that SD 11 and SD 12 will also be removed from the channel line up from 1st March.

In effect, this means that anyone who is not using a new receiver with a paired smart card will lose Premier League football from the 1st March - as will all the card sharing and IPTV Pirates.

You may wish to inform anyone that you know who is using one of the pirated TV services that they are about to lose their beIN football channels.

This situation has been forced onto beIN Sports (Al Jazeera) by the English Premier League who reacted to the introduction of IPTV Piracy services into the UK by stopping the broadcast of ALL but one of the 3pm kick offs on Saturdays. It seems that beIN Sports are becoming more ruthless in their approach to solving this problem by forcing their subscribers to buy the new receivers so that they can get their network secure presumably, so that all the 3pm kick offs can return.

In effect, after 28th February, existing subscriptions without a new receiver are useless for Premier League Football. Anyone who purchases a new receiver from us will be able to transfer their existing subscription account on to the new receiver (this is something that we will do for our customers, along with pairing the card with the new receiver)

Older Al Jazeera cards cannot be paired with the new receivers and have to be replaced with the newer cards (£15)

Replied to Dave by email as follows:

Hi Dave,

Yes, we do have them in stock and yes I can help you.

I can send you the boxes, but what are the numbers on the existing cards - only the latest version cards can be paired with the new receivers.

Send me the numbers and I will check them.

If they are the older cards, I can re-register the accounts on to new cards for you and pair the new cards with the receiver. Alternatively, if they are the newer cards, I can pair them with the new receivers for you.

Let me know if you would like me to do anything for you.

Charles, also replied to you by email as follows:

Hi Charles,

Unfortunately, you cannot use the Abu Dhabi Humax boxes on the beIN Sports system once it goes secure. Only their official receivers can be paired with their smart cards.

Only the newer smart cards can be paired with one of the receivers and I need to know your card number to be able to tell you whether it is one of the newer version 6 smart cards.

If your smart card is not one of the newer ones, we can supply you with one, transfer your old account onto it and then pair it with one of the new receivers.

I hope that this information is useful to you, please let me know whether you would like me to do anything for you.

Hi Janet,

Happy to assist you, let me know if I can help.

Please note: some 'dealers' cannot get stock at the moment and are having to wait until towards the end of March before they will have anything to sell.

We have receivers in stock and more receivers are arriving this week, but only because we placed our orders in December last year. Those 'dealers' who waited until recently to place their order are in trouble with their existing customers.

Dear Paul goodmorning,

I am interested for the al jazeera sports channel, and I have a couple of questions:

1) I already have a black panther decoder, will I need a new decoder (probably the answer is yes but I have to ask)

2) My satellite disc is tuned to the hotbird (ex nova). What will I need for the nilesat and do you actually install what is needed?

3) When can all these be available?

February 26, 2014 - 08:25 am
Hi Michael, I replied to the email address that you supplied but it was returned undeliverable. Here is my reply:

Yes, you will require one of the new receivers with a new version 6 smart card that can be paired together.

The satellite dish needs to be turned 20 degrees south westerly and lowering towards the horizon to obtain a signal from the Nilesat Group of satellites

We have stock, but we also have lots of orders, we are balancing our stock levels today and tomorrow and I will know better then, but definitely within seven days.

I hope that this information is useful to you. Don't hesitate to contact me if you need any further information.

March 28, 2014 - 11:08 am
Hi Savvas,

The numbers that appear during games are a security measure which helps to identify set top boxes being used in IPTV Piracy.

They will appear less frequently as the boxes that are being used in Piracy are identified and switched off.

You can purchase a new 1 year subscription any time and it will be added to the end of your current subscription terms.

August 06, 2014 - 08:02 am
Hi Angelos,

Thank you for your call yesterday. I know that I have already given you the answer to your questions but I am repeating them here because other people may also be interested.

A new one year subscription to beIN Sports including a new Receiver and Smart Card costs £325 (€410 at today's exchange rate) plus delivery. This is to purchase the equipment.

We can install a new Satellite Dish, LNB and Cable and set up the new Satellite Receiver for you (in all areas of Cyprus) - this service costs an additional €145.

If you already have a Satellite Dish and LNB etc. but need it moving to the correct Satellite and properly configuring to receive the signal, we can do this for you and install the new beIN Sports Satellite Receiver - this service costs an additional €95

If you already have the Satellite Dish, LNB etc. installed and it is pointing at the Nilesat group of satellites, you can easily install the new beIN Satellite Receiver yourself because we pre-configure it and save all the beIN channels to the beginning of the list of channels and into the list of favourites. Simply connect the Cable from the Satellite Dish, the HDMI lead between the TV and the Satellite Receiver and switch on.

This is an original beIN Sports Satellite Receiver and Smart Card and a genuine beIN Sports Subscription.

This system is NOT illegal card sharing or dodgy IPTV and does not need to be connected to the internet to work. The picture is High Definition and does not stop, start or freeze.

This is our fifth year providing (Al Jazeera) beIN Sports systems. We are in our eleventh year of trading in Cyprus and have thousands of satisfied customers. We offer seven day customer service. We are not the cheapest but our customer service is second to none - try telephoning me anytime, my telephone number is on every page of our web site - (00357) 220 22549
