All 3pm Kick Offs Return to beIN Sports
It's almost a year since Al Jazeera Sport (along with other broadcasters) was stopped from showing all the English Premier League's 3pm kick offs on Saturdays. Thankfully, normal service resumed this weekend and will continue for the forseeable future.
During the last year, I have published several articles that address the various issues involved and made numerous comments on our web site. Hopefully, this debacle can now be assigned to the History Books.
25th November 2013:-
The English Premier League, Sky TV, BT Sport and Al Jazeera Sport are on the warpath !
If you need any proof of the English Premier League's commitment to stamp out illegal TV Piracy once and for all, just consider their recent move to stop the broadcast of all (except 1) of the English Premier League's 3pm kick offs in Europe and beyond ! This move threatened to jeopoardise the agreement that they had with Al Jazeera Sport, but it was necessary all the same. That is why the English Premier League are on the warpath !
This means that despite them having a (guestimated) £600 million contract to show all the 3pm kick offs, currently, Al Jazeera Sport can only broadcast one 3pm game on Saturdays ! Put yourself in Al Jazeera Sport's shoes for a moment and imagine how that would make you feel ! That is why Al Jazeera Sport are on the warpath !
The root cause of the problem lies with the IPTV Pirates who have been hijacking/pirating and re-broadcasting the Premier League's pictures using Al Jazeera's system. Several individuals and companies have been making IPTV streams available (worldwide) and pubs in the UK have been paying to receive them and broadcast all the English Premier League's 3pm kick offs illegally in their pubs.
So, Pub landlords in the UK paying through the nose (it can be £000's per month) to show one 3pm kick off will have been pretty upset to see their pubs empty at 3pm as their clients re-located to the pub down the road who were using illegal IPTV streams to show 'all' the 3pm kick offs for a fraction of the price ! Do you think that they will have complained to Sky ? That is why Sky are on the warpath !
BT Sport who recently paid nearly a £Billion for the broadcast rights to a selection of English Premier League games over the next 3 years must be a tad upset about their system being hijacked, pirated and re-broadcasted too and that is why BT are on the warpath !
So, in January, Al Jazeera Sport are introducing a new secure TV system (the same as the OSN and ADMC systems that went before it) that includes several security measures that stop the IPTV Pirates in their tracks.
