UK TV Systems available in Cyprus
Our small set top box connects to your home network by ethernet cable and RJ45 connector or, by 802.11b/g/n wireless connection. It connects to your TV using a standard HDMI cable. Plug it into the mains power, wait for the channel menu to load and select a channel or search the EPG for your favourite programme. All that is needed is a good 2Mbps internet connection.
Standard definition TV running over the internet isn't for everyone - our satellite TV systems deliver the picture clarity and vivid colours of high definition and the general consensus amongst our customers is that once they have experienced a HD picture and Dolby Digital Sound, there is no going back to standard definition TV. So, our internet-based, set top box for UK TV system will not satisfy everyone.
The problem that everyone faces is that, since the demise of the expensive Big Dish, SKY TV systems which lost the majority of their most interesting UK TV channels, if you want to watch LIVE UK TV programmes in Cyprus, you haven't got that many options that don't involve illegal TV Piracy that (eventually and always) gets switched off and in most cases, leaves the customer carrying the can (so to speak) BUT our internet-based set top box for UK TV system is not a Pirated system as it only offers access to UK TV channels which are free to air and widely available on the internet.
In the last 3 years, the company that owns the Astra satellite fleet has been sending new satellites into space to replace some of the ageing satellites that were providing services to Sky TV. The new satellites have signal beams that are more tightly focused on the UK and therefore, the strength of the fringe reception received in Cyprus has weakened. Weakened to the point that receiving enough signal to produce a TV picture, even with a massive 4.2 metre satellite dish, is impossible on the majority of the TV channels that were available to Sky TV users in Cyprus.
This is the cheaper, more reliable alternative to Pirate TV. A low cost alternative to the extortionately expensive Pirated IPTV systems that are available in Cyprus, our set top box for UK TV system delivers equally as good a picture quality for a fraction of the price. Apart from the initial purchase price, there are no other monthly or annual subscription charges. There is just no need to pay out a monthly fee to watch UK TV programmes over the internet, especially to a TV Pirate !
Many people who connect their laptop/computer to their TV and use the internet and a UK VPN connection to watch TV programmes on BBC iPlayer and ITV Player may not like having their computer and those extra wires in their lounge and may not enjoy using a wireless mouse to navigate and change channels. If you're one of them, the good news is that our set top box system replaces all that hardware and makes choosing and changing channels as easy as 123 AND there's the option to use our set top box to access the catchup TV services offered by BBC, but to do this, because of the BBC's geographical restrictions, you need a VPN connection to the UK - the normal Live UK TV doesn't.
A dedicated UK TV box that delivers the majority of the UK free to air TV channels without using a computer or a satellite dish and even better, without paying a monthly or annual fee for the privilege.

Sorry, but there's been no mention of it lately, but soon I hope. I guess that they will announce it on the TV channels first.

Hello,

I am interested in the Set Top Box for UK TV and I would appreciate your help with the following ?

a) Can the Set Top Box be programmed to 15-18 specified channels ? For example BBC1-4, ITV1-4, Ch 4, Ch5 plus two or three UK & USA Christian Channels.

b) Is there a facility by which the user can programme and store TV channels ?

c) Apart from the HDMI output socket is the also an output socket which facilitate connection to A/V RCA sockets on the TV receiver ?

I look forward to you help.

Thank you

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

All the available UK TV channels are pre-programmed into the menu but there is no option for the user to edit the list.

The UK TV Box has two outputs - HDMI for more modern TVs and RCA (Red, Yellow and White) for older TVs

Dear Paul. I'm an old customer of yours (in both senses of the word!) early 2013, to be exact and apart from the initial set-up problems which were quickly solved, now, just a few days ago, another problem has arisen. Switching over to UK tv from one of the other systems we have, the login page appears, showing the email but requesting the Password. Am I right in thinking that you provided a password originally ? If so, could you please remind me of it. Just by pressing the OK button it continues showing the channel selected, but only for a minute or so, then the Password request comes up again. If you didn't provide us with a password originally, what do we do ? How can we get around it? With thanks, Edward

Hello Paul

Set it up, working fine but two queries:

Linked up fine to Wi-Fi, but have tried to 'hardwire' via Ethernet. Nothing recognized. Any suggestions ?

Also, please advise how the recording works ?

Thanks

Hi Ray,

There's a bit too much to post here so please look at our page on how to change from a Wireless to an Ethernet connection on our UK TV Box

Hi Paul,

Received your instructions and have successfully installed. A couple of points however, we need some clarification with: 1. The times in the Guide, are they UK time ? 2. Can we access HD or is it by subscription ? 3. How do we connect our DVD player to watch DVDs ? 4. ITV tends to "stick" on occasions.

Regards, Eddie

Hi Edward,

The times in the guide are local. HD is by subscription, but remember it takes more bandwidth (a constant 4Mbps). The DVD should connect in the way that it normally did (unless you have only one HDMI input on the TV and you have had to remove it for our set top box - can you connect the DVD by RCA (Red,Yellow,White) or Scart ?

If any of the channels "stick" (buffer), your internet connection is running slower than 1.2Mbps - is this happening at busy times in the evenings ?

Kind Regards

Paul

Please confirm cost is £119 + delivery to Alcaidesa in Southern Spain near La Linea.

Please confirm that we would get all the BBC, ITV and Freeview channels mentioned in your ad.

Please confirm that we get the beIN sport channels here in Spain ?

I cannot find your telephone support numbers but I suspect I am looking at the wrong web page, please advise.

What would be the delivery cost - normal and fastest ?

Are the installation and set up manuals in English and do you provide an English support telephone number.

Sorry to appear worried but I have already bought one box and it was a disaster.

Hi Keith,

Cost is £119 plus delivery to Spain (£18 Express Delivery). You receive all the main UK Free to Air channels as described on our web site.

The beIN Sports satellite TV system can be received in Spain from the Nilesat group of satellites. We have sold many systems into Spain. You will have to enquire locally to see what size satellite dish you need to receive Nilesat.

The set up guide and user manual is printed in English and you can contact us on any of the advertised numbers at the top of the page.

Hi Hashim,

We can supply to you directly in Sweden and the system will work wherever there is an internet connection. I am not quite sure what you mean by updating the channels, but if you let me know, I will give you an answer.

Hi Geoff,

I am glad to hear that you have been using our UK TV Box successfully for a year and we appreciate the feedback - thank you.

During the design process, we realized that our boxes were going to be used in very hot countries and that continual data streaming over extended periods (especially during the summer months) created a lot of heat - our heat sink configuration handles it perfectly.

We only use quality components in the construction process including a much larger passive heat sink than usual.

Our box can be used in conjunction with a VPN to enable you to access geo-restricted content such as BBC iPlayer. In fact, we have six VPN servers in the UK and have been supplying VPN connections for a number of years.

Please let me know if you are interested and I can make the necessary arrangements. Our VPN servers are not over-subscribed and cost £5.00 per month or £50 for 1 year.

Kind Regards

Paul
